Windchime

As if for the first time I glanced at you today

Lonely wind chime on my crab tree

A bright red rose adorns your bronze

With green leaves fake but wide awake

Hanging there proud as seasons change

Your song echoes similar each day

But as the breeze brings you to life

The notes you play are life’s medley

A buoyant tune you play at dawn

You gleam anticipating sunshine

Sweet welcome to my tired yawn

Reminder that miracles can happen

Lazily humming during noon

A soundtrack to my soul’s warm shadows

You point the way to furtive travels

As if oblivious of heat’s monsoon

The evening finds you fast asleep

Until the wind arouses whispers

Exchanging stories with the willow tree

I eavesdrop for revealing secrets

Every so often I will stroke you

Jumpstart your lifeless metal heart

Urging your notes to open windows

Speak to the birds of bright new starts

How can it be we’re so alike -

A breathing woman made of fire

And you, ornament held by a wire

Yet… just like you I come to life

When my soul’s wind blows all around me

Like you I sing to quench desire

Lost in my private dreaming spree

My tree is fate, my branches destiny

Those that I love the green around me

My Sun and Sky are blood and home

Hopes, dreams and fears the clouds above me

Our songs are one come nightfall’s veil

I walk beside you and I linger

Sorrow and light adorn my face

As I confess my yearning’s whimper

To you I pass my tacit calling

And you in turn sing to the stars

The moon shall spread it to the sky

Until He discerns my tender sigh._
