Πέρ’ από το δρόμο που περνάν τα φορτηγά
περιμένει ένα τρένο με το φάρο αναμμένο
και σφυρίζει ένα τραγούδι από παλιά.
Είχε ξεκινήσει όταν πρόλαβα να δω
πώς στο πρώτο το βαγόνι
είχε ακόμα το τιμόνι
μα δεν είδα πουθενά τον οδηγό.
Πάνω στο τρένο φάντασμα
μέσ’ τη νύχτα θα χαθώ,
μέσ’ την έρημο σ’ ένα πάρτι μαγικό,
πάνω απ’ το γκρεμό τ’ ουρανού θα περνώ
τρένο φάντασμα με σβησμένο αριθμό.
Μεσ’ τη γαλαρία που `ναι όλα σκοτεινά
ξετυλίγεται ταινία η δικιά σου ιστορία
που ποτέ δε θα παιχτεί στο σινεμά.
Το τρένο στέλνει σήματα, σινιάλα του καπνού
κι απαντούν οι Ινδιάνοι ότι όπου νά `ναι φτάνει
στο λιβάδι του Μεγάλου Μανιτού.

It had set off when i managed to see
that the first wagon still had the wheel
but the driver was nowhere to be seen.
Aboard the ghost-train
in the night i'll get lost
in the desert in a magical party
above the abyss of the sky

ghost-train with a faded number.
In the rear where it's all dark
there's a film rolling your story
that will never be played on the big screen.
The train is sending signals smokey signs
and the Indians answer that in a while it'll reach
the valley of the Grand Manitou.
