Tsamikos - The tsamikos is a traditional Greek dance in 3/4 time. Indeed, it is the form of this song.
Souravli - Greek folk instrument, a type of a fipple flute made of reed or wood.
Zurna - woodwind instrument used to play folk music, similar to oboe.
Nicephorus - name of several Byzantine Emperors.
Digenes - Digenes Akritas, mythical person of the Byzantine era.
Anna Komnene - (1083-1153), daughter of Alexios I Komnemos, Byzantine Emperor.
Nikitaras - Nikitas Stamatelopoulos (1784-1849), nephew of Kolokotronis, Greek revolutionary.
Tambouras - a Greek traditional string instrument of Byzantine origin.
Morea - renaissance and early modern name for Peloponnese.
