Ease and pleasure
Η άνεση και η ηδονή ωραίο πράγμα,
μπήκαν στο νου μου το πρωί σαν καλεσμένες,
φιλοξενούμενες το μεσημέρι μου δηλώνουν,
το βράδυ, πάνε αφέντρες και μαζί μου ξαπλώνουν.
Κι είναι κάτι νύχτες που δεν τελειώνουνε,
είναι κάτι νύχτες, νύχτες γλυκές,
που με τελειώνουνε.
Είναι κάτι νύχτες, που όλα τα δέχομαι,
είναι αυτές οι νύχτες που τις μισώ,
μα τις ανέχομαι.
Η άνεση και η ηδονή άτιμο πράγμα,
μου αναστατώνουν την ψυχή και με τρελαίνουν,
μεσ’το κεφάλι μου του κόσμου οι ηδονές παραφυλάνε,
και είναι η νύχτα η τυχερή, που πάνω της ξεσπάνε.
Ease and pleasure, [what a] a fine thing,
they entered my mind in the morning, as guests,
by midday they tell me they are owed hospitality
by evening, they have turned into ladyships and lie down [in bed] with me.
And there are some nights that have no end,
there are some nights, sweet nights,
that are the end of me.
There are some nights, when I accept everything,
these are the nights that I hate ,
but that I endure.
Ease and pleasure, [what a] a hateful thing,
they unbalance my mind and drive me crazy,
inside my head all the pleasures of the world lie in wait
and lucky is the night that they explode into.
