Με βελόνα και χρυσή κλωστή
σου κεντάω μι’ αγκαλιά ζεστή.
Μ’ άσπρη χάντρα και πορτοκαλιά
εδώ κι εκεί βάζω φιλιά.
Και την υφαίνω την αγάπη σε πανί
και σου τη στέλνω σκέπασμά σου να γενεί.
Με γαλάζιο δάκρυ κι ασημί
ζωγραφίζω τ’ άγιο σου κορμί.
Κυματάκια βάζω απ’ το γιαλό
εδώ κι εκεί, και το φιλώ.
With needle and gold thread
I knit you a warm embrace.
With a white and an orange bead
I adorn it with kisses here and there.
And I weave my love into a cloth
and I send it to you to become your cover.
With an azure and a silver tear
I paint your holy body.
I put little waves from the seaside
here and there, and I kiss it.
