Morning's Sea
Εδώ ας σταθώ.Κι ας δω κ’εγώ τη φύσι λίγο.
Θάλασσα του πρωϊού και ενέφελου ουρανού
λαμπρά μαβιά και κίτρινη όχθη όλα
ωραία και μεγάλα φωτισμένα.
Εδώ ας σταθώ.Κι ας γελασθώ που βλέπω αυτά
(τα ’δα αλήθεια μια στιγμή σαν πρωτοστάθηκα)
και όχι κι εδώ τες φαντασιές μου,
τες αναμνήσεις μου, τα ινδάλματα της ηδονής .
I shall stand here. And I shall see, myself, a bit of nature.
Morning sea and the cloudy sky's
shining mauve and yellow shore all
beautiful and big, illuminated.
I shall stand here. And may I deceive myself that I see these things
(I saw them truly for a moment when I first stood up)
and not here my fantasies,
my memories, the illusions of pleasure.
