κι απ’ όσα δε γεννήθηκαν ακόμη.
Δεν έπρεπε να σας γεννήσουμε, αλλά
φοβόμασταν να ζήσουμε μόνοι.
Το στάρι μες στους κάμπους τελειώνει
κι ο τρίτος ο παγκόσμιος ζυγώνει.
Σας φέραμε γιατί δεν είχαμε οι δειλοί
το θάρρος να πεθάνουμε μόνοι.
Απ’ όλα τα παιδιά ζητώ συγγνώμη
κι απ’ όσα δε γεννήθηκαν ακόμη.
Βαρύς είν’ ο σταυρός και πώς, παιδί μου, πώς,
και πώς να τον σηκώσουμε μόνοι;
