The trees
Είναι ωραία τα παλιά, μεγάλα δέντρα.
στέκονται δίπλα στο ποτάμι και κοιτάνε.
Δίπλα τους παίζουν τα παιδιά και τραγουδάνε.
τα δέντρα ακούνε και δε βγάζουνε κουβέντα.
Κοιτάζω τα παλιά, μεγάλα δέντρα
όμως αυτά όλο τα σύννεφα κοιτάνε.
Ανατριχιάζουνε, τα φύλλα τους πετάνε
μέχρι το σπίτι σου και πέφτουν στα τσιμέντα.
Μπορείς αν θέλεις να κρυφτείς όταν θα βρέχει
κάτω από ‘κείνα τα πλατάνια τα μεγάλα.
Μα έτσι γρήγορα το σύννεφο όπως τρέχει
η καταιγίδα θα ξεσπάσει, ποιος αντέχει;
Πήγαινε σπίτι σου, λοιπόν, και παρακάλα
να κάνει ο κεραυνός πως δεν τα είδε,
αυτά τα δέντρα, τα ωραία, τα μεγάλα,
αυτά τα δέντρα ανάμεσα σε τόσα άλλα.
