Ζει ο Μεγαλέξαντρος, ναύτη μου για πες.
Ζει και βασιλεύει της θάλασσας κυρά
ζει ο Μεγαλέξαντρος Δία μου και Θεέ μου
φέρε τη γαλήνη στ’ άγρια νερά
Καπεταναίοι μακρινοί ναυτόπουλα λοστρόμοι
στο διάβα σας στη ρότα σας γοργόνα σαν φανεί
πέστε ο Μεγαλέξαντρος πως βασιλεύει ακόμη
δικές να `ναι οι θάλασσες δικοί σας οι ουρανοί

πέθανε και εχάθη της θάλασσας κυρά
χάθηκε ο Αλέξαντρος Δία μου και Θεέ μου
χάνεται κι ο ναύτης στ’ άγρια νερά
