(His thoughts remain in suspense.)
Perhaps... If we knew...
We would not be Here.
Only the Voice knows that.
This Seat. It is a witness to it!
The Voice, brings us Here... and judges us!
...Everyone judges himself?...
Everyone judges each individual?...
...One judges the many?...
All of us judges everyone?
(A long silence.)
What does “Universal Conscience” mean!!!...
...Are all of us One?...
And we only think that we are many?
Are we, perhaps, one unique Essence?
The Voice told me...
If I were not asleep, I would remember!...
Perhaps... That Voice... lives inside us??...
Inside us... and it is asleep???
(Long silence.
The Entities, troubled, look at each other.
The former Political Leader perceives that the atmosphere has changed.
At once, he responds fervently.)
(Politician)
That Voice must be eliminated!...
Never to be heard again!...
We must go and find it!...
If we do not find it...
We shall never be at peace!!...
If we do not find it...
We will be Lost in the Darkness!!!...
(An increasingly intense fervour arises amongst the Entities following their momentary reservations about their decision.)
Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes.
Let’s go to the Other Regions...
...To the ones Above...
...And to the ones Below...
...Below the ones Below...
...Into the Fires...
...Into the Darkness...
...Everyone with one Purpose!...
...And we will pass through the Fires!!...
...To find from where the Voice comes!!!...
(The former Political Leader sets off towards the left-hand upward sloping Tunnel at the back of the Cavern, followed by the Entities who are enthusiastically and rhythmically repeating all together their unwavering decision.)
Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes.
Let’s go to the Other Regions...
...To the ones Above...
...And to the ones Below...
...Below the ones Below...
...Into the Fires...
...Into the Darkness...
...Everyone with one Purpose!...
...And we will pass through the Fires!!...
...To find from where the Voice comes!!!...
(They chant rhythmically as they approach and vanish into the left-hand side upward sloping Tunnel at the back of the Cavern.)
