| Sounds, voices, music.
We are so familiar with them, and each sound triggers a feeling. Emotions which bring back memories, no matter how soothing or sad they are.
We grow up listening to our surroundings, our parents telling us how much they love us, gently holding our hands, helping us make our first steps. "You can do it baby, one more step! You can do it!"
We laugh, our tiny body is pushing itself, one more step, and one more step closer to that blissful face and beautiful smile.
We love this feeling. Our small hands, firmly grasping our mother's palm. Feeling secure, and content, the whole world is unknown, just us.
A wonderful memory.
Then, somewhere in our journey, something happens and trembles our world.
We miss a sound, we miss the soft whistling of our brothers and sisters.
We miss our mother's weep, crying behind our back. We slip away from these emotions.
We don't understand it.
Day by day, everything changes.
Day by day we come nearer to silence.
So many colors, pictures, motions. We love every each one and we try to embrace them, stretching our hands. We desperately need to touch them, to feel the motions, the life vibrating itself. Every small sound is but a vague memory. An echo of a shadow once fulfilling our dreams. We’re drifting away from them. We fill the void with thousand pictures, old pictures and touching.
We start misplacing our emotions, our love, and our music. We start turning our heads away from each sound and melody, denying their existence. It's a new world out there, where everything has turned upside down, and we find joy in soundless places, full of movements.
We don't care, we don't know, we don't listen.
What's that extraordinary voice? What's that sound that suddenly sparked a forgotten flame in us?
Why are we so curious, why now? Why?
We have come so far, we have learned to embrace every image and emotion, tracing with our fingertips the painted lines. Fantasizing the excitement, the patience, and anger of the unknown artist.
What's that special voice that burst our world?
It's a beautiful explosion, a paradise lost but not forgotten.
It's a beating heart, a wish, a life we so wrongly took for granted.
That day, we fought with all our might, to be part of that giant musical. To touch an instrument and listen to our discordant notes.
To live
to smile
to listen
yes, it's true. It's real.
"Music is universal too. Even deaf people like to dance, love rhythm, and can kind of pick it up." Rainn Wilson
