I saw you in my dream one quiet night
Back in my arms, you came without a sound
You gently rose from shadows into light
And whispered soft, your love for me profound

But then I woke and searched the dark around
With only silence keeping me awake
I called your name, but you could not be found
Just for your shadow, my poor heart would ache

I reached for you, my arms out in despair
But you were gone, and silence took your place

Without a chance to tell you face to face

And since that night, each time I close my eyes
Alone within the coldness of my bed
