From down below I look into the star filled sky,
And suddenly without any warning I begin to cry.
I imagine that each star that glistens is what they say,
A departed soul that to the Heavens has made its way.
I find the brightest one and weeping I say a prayer,
That it is you watching me and keeping me in your care.

Are there holes in the floor of Heaven and can you see?
Do you know how hard it is to go on without you beside me?

I graduated and I know you would have been so proud,
watching me in my cap and gown walking through the crowd.
But you weren’t there to share in my joy and accomplishment,
no tears of pride, no photos taken and no congratulatory bouquet sent.
I have a degree now and a world of opportunities before me exists.
I should be feeling elated but this sorrow and hollowness persists.

Are there holes in the floor of Heaven and can you see?
Do you know how hard it is to go on without you beside me?

I found a boy and he’s asked me to become his wife.
I have found the perfect soul-mate with which to share my life.
I wanted you to meet him so you would know how wonderful he can be.
I wanted you at our wedding - as a bride to finally see me.
To give me some tidbit of advice from your own experience in life.
To tell me how to be for him the best possible wife.

Life has had it’s ups and downs and I have learned a great deal.
When I need you most it is at those times my saddest that I feel.
I cry often because of a nagging regret or a memory brought to mind.
I was too young to have lost you when I still had myself to find.
I miss you terribly and wish that I had had more time with you to share.
To tell you how much I love you still and pray that you are watching me from up there.[/I]
