And so I stay

[I]Monday seemed like the day to tell you
This wasn’t working and we were through.
But Monday came and went and nothing changed
Other plans made – obligations and duties already arranged.

Tuesday then would be the day to let you finally know
That although I loved you still – I had to finally go.
But Tuesday too came and went and here I found myself still
Although my mind was made up – my heart seemed to lack the will.

Wednesday had to be the day that we would finally talk
I imagined you watching me as out of your life I would walk.
But Wednesday too seemed to pass without a word at all
You would be late you said when you did finally call.

So now it is Thursday and I know just what has to be said
I watch you for a long while as you lay quietly sleeping in bed.
But Thursday is almost over and nothing yet again did I say
Quietly I beseech the Lord for guidance as that evening I did pray.

Friday and my determination begins to waiver
It is as though you suspect and now you grant my every favour.
You are more attentive, loving and seem to be changing you ways
We even laughed and talked like we used to - in the old days.

Saturday and even if I could go I don’t believe that I ever will
I have come to realize that no matter what – I love you still.
I can’t throw away all that we have shared together
Walk away from all we had and say good-bye forever.

Sunday and now I know that good or bad this is as it was meant to be
Fight it as I might the truth is that I was meant for you and you for me.
Together we will get through this I know
How then could I every leave you and go?

And so I stay.... and so begins another day![/I]
