Ένα βράδυ μαγεμένο είδα ξαφνικά
στης σελήνης τον καθρέφτη δυο μικρά πουλιά
Ήταν μάτια ξαφνιασμένα, μάτια γνώριμα.
Μου είπαν λόγια ξεχασμένα και τα γνώρισα.
Ήταν τα δικά μου μάτια, ήμουνα εγώ
το κορίτσι στο φεγγάρι, δώδεκα χρονών.
και ρωτούσα την καρδιά μου μήπως ξέρει αυτή
πού πηγαίνουνε τα χρόνια, πώς περνάει η ζωή.
Τόσο χρόνια ταξιδεύω δίχως τελειωμό,
στο λαβύρινθο του κόσμου ψάχνω γυρισμό.
Μα στης νύχτας τα σκοτάδια σαν κοιτώ ψηλά,
στης σελήνης τον καθρέφτη βλέπω δυο πουλιά.
Είν’ τα μάτια τα δικά μου κι είμαι πάλι εγώ
το κορίτσι στο φεγγάρι, δώδεκα χρονών.
Κι η καρδία μου με ρωτά μήπως ξέρει αυτή
πού πηγαίνουνε τα χρόνια, πώς περνάει η ζωή.
Πού πηγαίνουν αχ τα χρόνια, κι η γλυκιά η ζωή.
