| | Lyrics: Lina Nikolakopoulou
Music: Dimitris Papadimitriou
First version: Eleftheria Arvanitaki
I want to see you
searching for me
in every street and here
in the few you are asking for
I want to see you
with a deep love
so that none could
make this death go away
Sometimes
I am dressed in the words of a wound
sometimes I lose myself differently
and I am hiding myself from everyone
You are asking me why I am turning your joy into misfortune
and life does fit
to get into the feast not even once
I want to see you
taking revenge from me
to drink water secretly
from the place you will wash yourself
I want to see you
us to be in each other's arms
and a tough loop
to immortalize yesterday

Further to my commentary further below:
Funny thing, both singers Foteini Darra and Arvanitaki are singing '' γιατί '' regardless. I think they are wrong, meaning they were reading/learning from a copy with a typo. Can't prove it though. And whenever text criticism is concerned, the author should have the last word:
would anybody out there be so nice as to have a look into an authorised edition of Lina Nikolakopoulou's works to make sure and tell us ?
Thanks a lot in advance. | monoecumsemper 08-06-2014 22:55 | "You are asking me why I am turning your joy into misfortune

Translation largely unclear I'm afraid:
let's try again:
you are asking me why (translator reads γιατί, which is probably wrong: it should say 'να μη', see my commentary under the French translation) I am turning my joy (τη χαρά μου) into your misfortune (στην = σου την)
and life does not fit (δε χωράει)
into the feast not even once
However, as I suggest to read 'να μη', my translation would be:
"you're asking me not to turn my joy into your misfortune,
and life does not fit
into the feast not even once" |
