Όταν του φθινοπώρου η πόρτα ανοίξει
όταν θ’ αποδημούνε τα πουλιά
θα φτάνει ένα αεράκι ν’ αποδείξει
τι είναι μια αγκαλιά
Θα `ναι Σεπτέμβρης μήνας μπορεί κι Οκτώβρης
θα `σαι στην πόλη εσύ κι εγώ στο νησί
και όποιος θυμάται πιο πολύ θα το βρεις
όταν θα παίρνεις το γράμμα μου το θαλασσί
Δεν υπάρχουν σύνορα μου λες
τα καράβια κάνουν κύκλο στις καρδιές
τα δελφίνια όμως θα μου πουν
όποιος μένει πίσω δεν τον αγαπούν
Καθώς κοιτώ να παίζεις με το κύμα
να μου φοράς κοχύλια στα μαλλιά
νιώθω πως δεν αργεί το πρώτο βήμα
που σε πάει μακριά σ’ άλλη αγκαλιά
Αύγουστος μήνας θα λέει η φωτογραφία
μα ο Δεκέμβρης θα `ναι στην ψυχή
και μένα που με λένε απλώς Μαρία
θα φτιάχνω μια ιστορία από την αρχή
Δεν υπάρχουν σύνορα μην πεις
Το δελφίνι το `πε στις ακτές
κράτα την καρδιά σου από τους πειρατές
το `πε και στο κύμα χάθηκε
όποιος μένει πίσω πάει, ξεχάστηκε
