Stasera nella bettola
Απόψε μες στο καπηλειό
που τα μπουζούκια κλαίνε
{είμαι μονάχος κι έρημος
γιατί δυο μάτια φταίνε.}
Τριγύρω όλοι σκυθρωποί
οι φίλοι δε μιλιούνται
{τέτοιους καημούς γνωρίσανε
γι αυτό και με λυπούνται}
Μ’ ένα καράβι έφυγε
αυτή που είχα αγαπήσει
{πήγε στα ξένα μακριά
και πια δε θα γυρίσει}
Stasera, nella bettola,
come piangono i bouzouki!
(Sono solo e desolato
a causa di due occhi colpevoli).
Intorno, tutti cupi in viso,
gli amici non parlano
(hanno conosciuto un dolore simile,
anche per questo mi compatiscono).
E' andata via con una nave
colei che avevo amato
(è andata all'estero, lontano,
e non tornerà più).
