The Tree
Στην Αθήνα μες το κέντρο
φύτρωσε καινούργιο δέντρο
έχει κόκκινα τα φύλλα
και ολόγλυκα τα μήλα
Σε πέντε έξι δεν αρέσει
το χτυπάνε για να πέσει
μα εκείνο δε λυγάει
κι όλο φυλλωσιές πετάει
Γύρω του λαός κι εργάτες
το φυλάνε με τις βάρδιες
σ’ ένα χρόνο σ’ ένα μήνα
θα σκεπάσει την Αθήνα
In the centre of Athens
A new tree has sprouted
It's leaves are red
And it's fruit is sweet
To five or six, they do not like it
They shake it to make it fall
But it doesn't fall
And it drops it's foilage
Workers and people gather round the tree
And protect it
In one year, in one month
It will cover Athens
