Τα βράδια,
πάντα λίγο μετά τα μεσάνυχτα
στα καλντερίμια της πόλης
κυκλοφορούν σκιές,

Γυρεύουν να ξεδιψάσουνε
από σωλήνες παλαιών σπιτιών
που στάζουνε μεθοδικά
και μόνιμα
σαν όρισε ο χρόνος.
Στο κέντρο
τα μπαλκόνια μυρίζουνε καρπούζι
στους περαστικούς,
μα εσύ, αντί για χάραμα καλοκαιριού
και πάλι εκείνη την πρώτη κολοκύθα αναζητάς,
έστω τα θρύψαλά της
κι ας μην υπήρξε άμαξα ποτές.
Σου το ψιθύρισαν κι αυτό οι γάτες.
