Ο Ορφέας γύρισε με άσπρα μαλλιά στην Θράκη του.
Κανείς δεν τον άκουσε να παραπονεθεί ξανά για τον θάνατο
αλλά είχε γίνει σκληρός με την ζωή.
Δεν άντεχε να είναι ευγενικός στις Μαινάδες
που με τα αμπελόφυλλα γέμιζαν τις κοιλάδες της Θράκης άσεμνες ωδές
κι επειδή τις περιφρόνησε, αυτές τον σκότωσαν.
Έπειτα όλα έγιναν κύμα στη λευκή θάλασσα,
απόηχοι των ναυαγών σε σκοτεινές παραλίες.
