History of freedom
In december 2008 the greek democracy took end
And there died Free-dom.
Could you, grandma, remember it
And once again explain the history?
Democracy - I know the word
ment that people had to accept
Punch, robbery, cigaret and other humiliations
Without hitting back, not refusing.
It is said it matches those
Who com and build a hell
There's no greater crime than resistance.
But tell me grandma, what was it... how is it written...
"Free-dom"?
Stop it, grandchild, close history book
True tell them, there died Freedom
It became useless painfully
Many years before december, and it lasted years.
Democracy, as you display it
From the base that you see and know
Was not idea of Perikles, Sokrates
If they knew what's happening now they would roll in the graves.
This nation has gone through false democracies
With dreadful good consequences for decades
Myth of security was sold to turists
Wide open door and clean beach...
The same time every day against the red light
And when traffic light was lit - only directly it told
They blamed anybody of mischief on streets
Politicians, foreigners, ufos - all but themselves.
With printed material they blocked the sidewalks
Forced children go in for slalom and such extreme
On their way to school, every day
So got youth lessons about barbarity.
And when december suddenly came everybody were surprised
They did'nt wait it, cold not imagine
And the most heated were those
Who about Freedoms death carried the biggest responsibility.
The more innocent was the storekeeper,
The more broken windows he found in morning
The scientists cried in secret
In handclap of audience they swallowed peoples despair.
The few that didn't clap
In their holes silently lived
'cause for years they learned to keep quiet
And they let also now the worst happen.
2009 when like window broke down turism
And at once the economy of Greece - how else!
Elsewhere went the visitors disappointed
And soon followed the more stingy foreigners.
Close the book, my young grandchild, it's meaningless
don't go on reading gone headlines
You are not immune enough to know what happened
After that unhappy year 2008.
I know, you are able to understand a lot
You have already read about all this
What happened in Germany 70 years ago
But don't read yet about Greece. Don't:
After that you couldn't sleep
Three nights you'ld be awake crying
If you would know what your grandma went through
Weeks or months could you not find solace.
Because Freedom... that's me
