Άιντε σαν πεθάνω τι θα πούνε,
πέθανε ένας χασικλής (κάποιο παιδί)
πέθανε ένας δερβίσης (λεβέντης)
ένας καραμπουζουκλής. (που γλεντούσε τη ζωή)
Άιντε της κανναβουριάς τα φύλλα
θα τα κάνω φορεσιά
να τα βάλω κυρά μου να περάσω
να σου κάψω την καρδιά.
Άιντε σαν πεθάνω στο βαπόρι
φουντάρετέ με στο γιαλό
ρίξετε με στο γιαλό
να με φάνε τα μαύρα ψάρια
και τ’ αλμυρό νερό.
Ante (Ah) When I die, what will they say?
A hashish smoker (a kid) has died
a dervish (leventis*) has died,
a karambouzouklis**.(who enjoyed life)
Ante with the hempseed leafs
will I make a set of clothes,
in order to wear them, my lady, and pass
to burn your heart.

sink me inside the coast
throw me inside the coast,
for the black fish to eat me
and the salty water.
